'Poop cruise' survivor used one shocking word to describe his experience and everyone is saying the same thing

Nearly a month has passed since Netflix launched their gripping new documentary Trainwreck: Poop Cruise, and subscribers are still unsettled by one particular word a survivor used to describe the ordeal.

For those who haven't watched the hour-long episode yet, it recounts the disastrous 2013 Carnival Triumph voyage, where over 4,000 passengers found themselves in a worst nightmare scenario as a critical electrical failure inundated the ship with urine and feces.

The crisis began when a fire erupted in the ship's engine room due to a failure in a fuel oil return line. Consequently, gasoline sprayed onto a scorching surface, causing permanent damage to the vessel's generator.

The Carnival Triumph, which was travelling from Texas to Mexico at that time, subsequently experienced a massive power outage affecting both the mains and propulsion, leaving it adrift in the sea for four days.

During this ordeal, passengers had limited access to food and power. Sanitation conditions worsened drastically as raw sewage started backing up into passenger deck areas, creating a significant biohazard.

While the crew advised passengers to use red biohazard bags for defecation and showers for urination, many ignored the instructions and continued using toilets that couldn't flush.

Survivors have since spoken to Netflix producers about the event, with one former Carnival chef using a particularly stomach-churning word to describe the accumulation of sewage in some cabins.

In the documentary, chef Abhi likened the sight to 'lasagna'. "People were pooping on top of toilet paper, then pooping on top of that," he explained to viewers.

"It was layer after layer after layer. It resembled a lasagna."

After the chef claimed he could 'never' see the Italian dish 'the same way', the food analogy struck a chord with many Netflix subscribers, some of whom found the whole situation quite humorous.

"When Abhi was narrating the story and then began laughing, I couldn't help but laugh too! I rewound quickly and laughed again!" one Reddit user confessed this week.

Another concurred, writing: "'It was like a lasagna' is among the funniest things I’ve ever heard; thank you for your service on the cruise, sir."

"This absolutely floored me (and the final recap of him being unable to view lasagna the same again)," a third added.

Another continued: "When he described the toilet paper and poo piling up as lasagna, I laughed so hard for 5 minutes straight; I’ve never found television as funny as that, he made that documentary."

Ultimately, the Carnival Triumph was towed from just off the coast of Mexico to Mobile, Alabama, over several days.

The cruise line eventually offered a modest compensation of $500, and a refund for the return trip for each passenger, according to another passenger.
