This week, Kim Kardashian has unintentionally ignited a heated debate on parenting, after expressing a somewhat contentious viewpoint on education.
For those who might need a refresher, the 44-year-old is a mother to four beautiful children - two daughters, North, 12, and Chicago, seven, along with two sons, Saint, nine, and Psalm, six.
Kim shares her children with her ex-husband, rapper Kanye West, from whom she separated in 2021 after six years of marriage. Since then, the star of The Kardashians has made several candid revelations about her life as a single mom.
Last year, Kim revealed that she often struggles to make time for her children even with the help of nannies and a chef, and admitted finding it difficult to adjust to life alone following her divorce.

Speaking on iHeartRadio’s What in the Winkler? podcast in 2024, she recalled feeling 'alone', and added: "But sometimes in the middle of the night, when they're all sleeping in your bed, kicking you, crying, and waking up - it’s not something that I discuss often because I feel there is always a lot of judgment or people will quickly say, 'Oh, but you have the resources for nannies and help'.
"And I just think that no matter the help I have, I'm essentially raising four kids by myself."
This week, however, while discussing her parenting choices, Kim made a debatable comment regarding her children's schooling, admitting she 'doesn't believe in homework'.

"But I’m going to tell you why," she clarified during an appearance on Kai Cenat’s Mafiathon 3 livestream over the weekend.
"Kids are in school for eight hours a day. When they come home, they need to also — they do sports, have a life, spend time with their family."
She continued to inform listeners: "I think that homework should be reserved for school."

To Kim's disappointment, however, her beliefs haven't been well-received by many social media users, who have criticized her for speaking from a privileged position due to her family's celebrity status.
One X (formerly Twitter) user commented: "Of course someone who could afford to have their homework done would say that."
Another added: "Well, homework doesn’t prevent kids from doing all that she mentioned. I sometimes did my homework before leaving school back in the day."
A third person remarked: "Yeah, when you don’t have to compete in life and already have [millions] from birth, it's pointless."

Others, however, defended the star, asserting she has every right to have an opinion about her own children's welfare.
"I think a little educational exercise outside of school to keep you alert and ready for work in out-of-school environments is good, but the workload was ridiculous when we were in school," one agreed.
Another wrote: "Low key valid, to be honest. Why not do the 8 hours of learning while at school and allow time to relax at home with family."

"That’s actually a fair point," a third person continued. "School already occupies most of the day, so allowing kids to breathe, be active, and have a social life outside academics makes sense. Balance is more important than overwhelming them with homework."
One person likely in agreement with Kim is her sister Kourtney, who previously described sending her children to school as a 'dated' tradition.
Speaking on the Khloé in Wonder Land podcast recently, the 46-year-old mother-of-four explained: "There are ways we function as a family that… it’s like if someone does the same thing every day. Like I do it with everything, it’s not just about our family."
Kourtney continued: "Like, let’s say the school system. I’ll think, 'Why do kids f–king go to school?'. Truly. It’s so dated."
